In September 2017 luxury cosmetics company Yves Saint Laurent launched their All Hours range which included a liquid foundation, cushion foundation, liquid concealer, primer and beauty sponge.
Over the following months this range was everywhere across social media. I couldn’t escape it. It was quite popular among YouTubers and influencers, it was like the public couldn’t enough of this fabulous new range.
Being the reluctant gal that I am, I was hesitant to try these products at first because they’re quite expensive but also because I’m almost always pretty reluctant to buy the hype around products.
There are very few products that I will rush out and buy, I like to wait until the hype dies down and I see reviews from less well-known bloggers and influencers.
I spotted this on offer so decided to purchase the concealer and foundation to try.

I love my MAC Pro Longwear but I do like trying other concealers and I’m always on the hunt for something that may be better, so far, nothing has come close to Prolongwear. I picked up shade 2, which is Ivory in the YSL
The shade range is abysmal. There are only four shades in the range. Four. I need to mix two to get a shade to suit me, even then, it’s not a perfect match.
The shade range in YSL isn’t great either, there are six shades available (here in Ireland at least) and the deepest shade doesn’t seem to be that deep.

I was very eager to try these given all the hype that had surrounded them so I expected great things. The below is what YSL have to say about the concealer:
“YSL All Hours Concealer has you covered for endless nights: full coverage in a blendable, liquid texture.
The richly pigmented formula hides dark circles, working as an under-eye concealer, and to help camouflage imperfections with no compromise on comfort.
A lightweight, creamy full coverage concealer with a velvet, matte finish that is transfer-resistant, sweat-resistant and is not cakey.
Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
– Yves Saint Laurent”
Lightweight, full coverage, blendable, covers dark circles, camouflages imperfections, creamy, sweat/transfer resistant? All in one concealer? Sounds pretty amazing, huh?
If you have fine lines avoid this like the plague. It will settle in every single one of them and emphasise them like they’re going out of fashion, frankly.
I have quite a few lines and this settles into each and every one of them and makes me look older than I am.

Is it full coverage? No. It’s medium at best. It’s creamy and blendable and offers some coverage, but not full coverage.
If you have dark circles you will need either a corrector or another concealer to camouflage the darkness and to get some more coverage because this concealer won’t do either of those for you.
A word of warning: this does NOT pair well with the Becca brightening corrector. At all. If I apply the Becca corrector and this over top, once this is blended out it looks patchy, uneven and cakey.
It dries to a matte finish, not velvet-matte as YSL claim. If your skin is normal or oily, your dark circles aren’t bad and you have no (or very little) fine lines this is probably better for you.
With my dry skin and fine lines this is awful. And if you have mature skin I would definitely be avoiding it.

It has a doe-foot applicator which I like, however it is quite small in size. I have to put it into the tube at least twice to get a decent amount of product.
To be honest I was really disappointed with this. I know it’s aimed more for normal, oily and combination skin types but I did not expect it to be as bad as it is.
Would I recommend it? Honestly, I don’t think it’s something I could recommend based on my own experience, however, if you have normal or oily skin and little to no darkness or fine lines this may work for you but I would be hesitant on recommending it mainly because of the price, it’s prohibitively expensive at €34.

I don’t know if I would pay €34 for any concealer no matter how good it is how much I love it. My all-time absolutely favourite concealer is Pro Longwear by MAC. It’s one I buy over and over and can 100% recommend, it’s incredible.
Pro Longwear is the only concealer that I am loyal to. Nothing beats it, frankly, nothing even comes close to it!
If you do want to purchase this concealer it’s available on Feel Unique for €27, Boots.ie for €34 and Debenhams for €35.
