They’re Real mascara by Benefit is a cult favourite and has been since its release a few years ago. At the time of its release it sold out regularly thus making it hard to get a hold of.
Everyone seemed to love it, I don’t recall seeing bad reviews of it at the time, however I’m sure there were some. I had a sample size of this mascara and the matching They’re Real Eyeliner so I decided to give it a try and see what all the fuss was about.
The bristles and wand are rubbery and small so I was a little unsure of this mascara first off and wondered how it would work on top lashes.
It doesn’t give the length or volume that I want, it makes my lashes look spidery. It flakes off, so I know that a few hours after I apply it, it’s going to be down my face and I don’t want that.
I wear mascara because I want volume, length and separation, what I don’t want is my lashes to look clumpy or spidery.
At €27 its expensive. Maybelline’s Lash Sensational is much better and it is half the price too.
If it gave the length, volume and separation I wanted and it didn’t flake, I’d probably consider purchasing it, but given it does nothing I want any mascara to do, regardless of how much it is, I won’t be repurchasing it and I couldn’t recommend it unfortunately.
