Fenty Beauty, created by music icon Rihanna, was quite possibly the most anticipated launch and sought-after brand in the beauty and blogging worlds in 2017. Pretty much everyone and their mother has been talking about this brand since its launch last year. Since its launch it has sold out in practically in most places, numerous times.
Fenty Beauty was created to include all skin tones and ensure that no one would be left out, as is often the case, particularly with foundations.
I have dry skin and matte foundations are something that aren’t generally recommend for my skin type as they can cling to dry patches and because they don’t tend to suit dry skin, they’re more for normal, combination and oily skin types I think, however, me being me, I just had to try this foundation.
“Rihanna was inspired to create Fenty Beauty after years of experimenting with the best-of-the-best in beauty—and still seeing a void in the industry for products that performed across all skin types and tones.” – FentyBeauty.com
There are forty shades in the foundation line so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a shade to suit you. I chose the shade 170 which is cool toned and is the eighth lightest shade I believe.

While I prefer a slightly luminous finish to my foundation, matte foundation are not something I am not totally against. Once it doesn’t make my skin look heavy, cakey or drier than it already is or cling to dry patches.
Let’s be honest; I don’t want any foundation to cling to dry patches (who does want that?!), regardless of finish.

The foundation comes in a tall, lightweight, frosted glass bottle, that looks sleek and isn’t big or bulky in size. This foundation does come with a pump, which, if you’re a regular reader, you’ll know I love.

The finish isn’t a flat matte, its not heavy or cakey and on my dry skin, it looked great.
I did have some trouble with it seeping into my pores and emphasising them. I definitely need a smoothing primer or something underneath this foundation.
It applies beautifully with a beauty blender and a brush, though I prefer the finish a beauty blender gives.
I use 1 ½ pumps to get a full coverage with a beauty blender. I did try two pumps the first time and found it looked heavy around my nose, on my forehead and between my brows.
The foundation needs a few minutes to dry down to its truest colour, although I don’t find this to change too much on me.

You get 32ml which is 2ml more than standard foundations and it costs €33 here in Ireland I believe. In Ireland the only place you can purchase Fenty Beauty in store is in Harvey Nichols in Dundrum.
“Makeup is there for you to play. It should never feel like pressure, and it should never feel like a uniform.” – Rihanna
You can purchase Fenty Beauty online for £26 from Harvey Nichols and FentyBeauty.com for $34 USD. Bare in mind though that you will have postage and customs to pay as Fenty use DHL for International delivery so you will need to pre-pay any customs charges.
I’d recommend this foundation, although I would recommend getting a sample of it if you can. You don’t want to spend €33 on it to discover you dislike it.
