Tarte is a brand that I haven’t had much luck with when it comes to cosmetics. Frankly, most of their products have been disappointing for me, but every once in a while I stumble across a product that I like and that works well for me, this lipstick is one of these products.
Last year I got the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Fall 2018 edition and this was one of the products included. As the name of the set suggests, this is a nude lipstick, which is my favourite. I adore nude lips – they’re my go-to. They’re perfect for day-to-day, perfect for work and college and they go with pretty much all makeup looks.

‘Beach Babe’ is a beautiful colour. It reminds me so much of MAC’s Velvet Teddy and Urban Decay Bun Bun. It’s slightly darker than Bun Bun and about a shade lighter than Velvet Teddy. It’s sligtly more pink toned than both Velvet Teddy and Bun Bun, but I wouldn’t describe is a full on pink nude.
All three are warm toned nudes, but with different finishes. Velvet Teddy is a matte, Bun Bun is a comfort matte and Beach Babe is a satin, so it has a shiny, but not full-on-glossy finish. In the below swatched I swiped each of the lipsticks once and as you can see they are quite pigmented with Bun Bun having marginally less pigment than Velvet Teddy and Beach Babe and when on my lips that difference is not noticable at all.

It is extremely comfortable to wear and as the name suggests, it is hydrating. Because of it’s formula and finish, it’s not the most long lasting, but I can get a 2-3 hours wear from it before I need to reapply, and even then, I don’t need a full reapplication – a quick dabbing is enough and I’m good to go again for another couple of hours.
Beach Babe doesn’t feather or bleed, it wears off evenly and doesn’t give me that awful “butthole” affect. I absolutely detest when lip products give me that “butthole” affect. It’s an immediate thumbs-down from me when a product does that.

I love the packaging, too. I adore the turquoise-blue marbled casing. It’s so cheerful and summery and instantly makes me smile when I see it. There is something so cheery about turquoise-blue and I love when cosmetics have this colour packaging.
Pros:
- creamy
- pigmented
- comfortable to wear
- wear well
- hydrating
- no bleeding or feathering
- wears off evenly
This is without a doubt one of the better products I have tried by Tarte. A lot of what I’ve tried in the past has been very disappointing and left me wondering why some of their products gained so much hype.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this and it’s one I would repurchase and recommend. There is a large variety of shades in this particular range so I may pick up another one at some point to try.
The only downside to these is that they are not easily available in Ireland. They are available on QVC UK for £13 plus p+p, however there are only three shades in stock and this shade isn’t one of them. There are two trio sets available and this shade is included in the nude trio. You can find the trios here for £36 plus p+p.
Thank you for reading, until next time, take care xx
