By Terry’s Ombre Blackstar cream eyeshadow sticks are one beauty product we’re all familiar with and if like me, you watched YouTubers such a Tanya Burr, Zoella etc. you’ll remember everyone raving about them back in the day. In particular, ‘Bronze Moon’ and ‘Misty Rock’. I haven’t tried the those, so I can’t say how they compare to the Stylo Blackstar’s, however, if they are anything like them, they’ll be fabulous.
I spotted this in TK Maxx and decided to get it, as it was only €6 or €7 and for me, it was a way of being able to try By Terry makeup, but without paying big money for their products. I hadn’t tried any By Terry makeup until I purchased this because their products are pricey and without knowing if I was going to like them, I just wasn’t willing to splash out on them.

I hadn’t read any reviews on the Stylo Blackstar’s so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I can safely say, I love this one. I have the shade ‘Copper Crush’, which is a beautiful vibrant coppery gold shade. It’s such a beautiful product to use, however it does set quickly so you need to work fast, because once it sets, you can’t blend it.
When it sets, it sets to a velvety finish and feels very soft to the touch and there is no transfer, so even if I touch my lids, I won’t get product on my fingers and I won’t be left with patches of product missing or finger marks either.

It is very pigmented, so you don’t need a lot of product as a little goes a long way. It’s very creamy, but it not so much so that it blends away to nothing, creases, smudges, bleeds etc. Once it has set, that’s it, it won’t move. Because of how well it sets, I’ve found the best (and easiest/quickest) way to remove it is to use an oil or oil-based makeup remover.
It breaks down the shadow for easy, quick and hassle-free removal. A few times I’ve tried Bioderma’s micellar water and milk cleansers, but they didn’t really break down or remove the product, so an oil is best, in my experience.

I love using this when I need a quick and easy eye, but don’t want to faff around with different palettes, pigments or products. A quick sweep of this over my lids, blended out and some mascara and I have the perfect daytime look, and if I add some liner (either pencil or liquid), I can easily take my look from day to night.
Although it is very metallic, it is not glittery, so you won’t get fall out, so no cleaning up to do either. It’s super quick to use and perfect for day and night wear, especially if you have an occasion or a long day and you need your makeup last all day – you can be sure this won’t go anywhere.
Full price they are €27.50 / £25 / $30, which is pricey for what it is, so if these were something you wanted to try, I would keep an eye out in TK Maxx as they’re regularly in stock along with many other high-end brands, but at much lower prices.
They are available on All Beauty, Arnotts, Beautylish, By Terry.com, Cult Beauty, Feel Unique, Harrods, Look Fantastic, Net-A-Porter, Space NK and World Duty Free UK.
I regularly use Rimmel’s Scandaleyes shadow sticks, which are essentially the same product/concept/idea, but they cost a lot less. The only downside is, they are not easy to find in Ireland and I usually end up ordering mine from the US (Walgreens, Amazon & Walmart).
Have you tried any By Terry makeup? I would love to know your thoughts on what you’ve tried.
Thank you for reading and until next time, take care xx
