Last year when makeup artist extraordinaire Lisa Eldridge announced she was launching her own make-line, we were all waiting with bated breath for her products and knowing Lisa, anything she launched or put her name to would be of high quality; and her lipsticks are no exception.
Lisa launched three shades: Velvet Morning (an orangey red), Velvet Ribbon (a classic neutral/blue red) and Velvet Jazz (a muted, earthy, brick red). All three shades looked absolutely stunning and unsurprisingly, sold out pronto.
In July of this year, Lisa launched her summer collection and also restocked all hree of her original True Velvet lipsticks. Her summer collection consisted of four new shades, in two formulas. The two formulas were ‘Luxuriously Lucent’ (semi sheer and dewy) and ‘Insanely Saturated’. Below is some information from Lisa’s Instagram about the four lipsticks in her summer collection.
-
- Love of My Life (a true classic rosy pink, luxuriously lucent formula)
- Go Lightly (salmon pink with pastel undertones, luxuriously lucent formula)
- Rainbow Spill (true watermelon red/coral pink, with a muted neon undertone, insanely saturated formula)
- Skyscraper Rose (a vivid, electric Fuchsia Pink, insanely saturated formula)
During the restock, I managed to get my hands on Velvet Morning, which I was delighted with. It’s a beautiful shade and one that will be gorgeous for Autumn.
The texture of this lipstick is just fabulous. It looks and feels like real velvet. It reminds me hugely of the Pat McGrath MatteTrance lipsticks, but this is even more velvety and pigmented.

It is incredibly pigmented; probably the most pigmented lipstick I own. It glides on so smoothly, smoother than any other lipstick and it absolutely saturates my lip in the most gorgeous orangey red. I just cannot say enough good things about this lipstick.
“Saturated and highly pigmented lipstick with a beautiful, true velvet effect on the surface of the bullet which looks exactly like velvet fabric. The formulation is a creamy, hydrating matte with a slight sheen – it’s not a ‘flat’ matte.” – Lisa Eldridge
As well as being pigmented, it is very smooth to apply. It literally glides onto my lips, it doesn’t drag, tug or scratch and it feels beautiful on. It’s not at all drying or uncomfortable to wear and it wears well, very well. It lasts for a 6-7 hours before starting to fade, and when it fades, it fades evenly. It doesn’t appear patchy, it doesn’t feather or bleed and it wears well both with and without a lip liner.
The packaging/casing of these lipsticks is just as beautiful as the lipsticks themselves. Encapsulated in a luxurious gold case, orangey red bullet really stands out against the golden backdrop of the case, and it looks even more beautiful. Almost too beautiful to use. Almost. 😜
The formula of this lipstick has to be one of my favourites, along with Pat McGrath’s MatteTrance. It’s just so velvety and smooth and applies like a dream, that it’s hard for it not to be a favourite, to be totally honest. I adore lipsticks like this, and this is very best one that I have tried.
“This shade is an explosion of vitality that looks graphic and modern for parties … will serve you well all year as its the ultimate hot summer holiday shade too. Can also be applied as a soft, muted stain by dabbing on to the lips straight from the bullet and then tapping with your finger tips” – Lisa Eldridge (on Velvet Morning)
When I first heard that Lisa was restocking her lipsticks, I was watching her site like a hawk (and my emails, for her newsletter) and I’ll be doing the same for her October restock, too. I would really love to get Rainbow Spill and Skyscraper Rose; they are two absolutely stunning shades that are firmly on my wishlist.

All of Lisa’s lipsticks are now sold out, but fear not, there is a big restock in October (according to Lisa’s website, here) and there will be brand new shades and sets launching, too. I will 100% be picking up more of her lipsticks, in particular Rainbow Spill. Every time I see a picture of this, I kick myself for not getting it, it’s an absolute stunner of a shade.
If you would like to receive notification as to when Lisa will be launching her new shades and restocking her now sold-out shades, then make sure you sign up to her newsletter as that is how Lisa’s puts the information out there in relation to her launches. You can sign up to Lisa’s newsletter here and follow her on Instagram here.
It’s worth noting that all of Lisa’s lipsticks are cruelty free, too.
Have you tried any of Lisa’s lipsticks? What are your thoughts on them? Are there are you want to pick up in her October restock?
Thank you for reading and until next time, take care xx
