I have seen this primer by Catrice Cosmetics all over Instagram lately, and everyone seems to love it, so of course, I had to try it. If you are following me any length of time, you’ll most likely know that I am a huge fan of Catrice products. They are widely available, super affordable, regularly have new collections and their products are usually great quality – they are one of the very best affordable brands there are IMO.

Often, I find with more inexpensive brands (especially when they are as affordable as Catrice is) that product quality isn’t always great, it usually reflects the price paid for each item, however with Catrice, I don’t find that to be the case. Of course, there are some products where that happens, as with all brands, but for the most part, their products are usually pretty good quality, certainly for the price point.
When I first heard about this primer, and all it’s claims, I was dubious as to whether one product could really live up to so many claims, especially one that is under €10. Over the last number of weeks, I have seen so many people rave, rave and rave some more about this primer, so I had to try it – I couldn’t not!
I love the packaging, I love that this primer comes in a tube so it is very small, compact and light – perfect for travel! It’s also very easy to ensure you squeeze out just the right amount and that you can use up all of the product, too. You get 30ml of product, which is standard for most primers and it is vegan. This primer makes ten claims, all of which are below.
-
- Priming
- Hydrating
- Anti-Wrinkle
- Natural Glow
- Anti-Pollution
- Anti-Oxidation
- Pore Minimizing
- Evens Out Skintone
- Blurs Imperfections
- UV Protection – SPF 15
As you can see, there are a lot of claims. I’m most dubious about the anti-wrinkle claim though. To be frank: I don’t think there is any product on the market that can really prevent or minimise wrinkles, except for Botox!
This has a nice creamy consistency and blends into my skin beautifully. It gives the most gorgeous glow to my skin, it’s not shimmery or glittery and doesn’t give the same glow that a liquid illuminator does, however it looks really beautiful and almost natural. I love how my foundation applies and sits over this.

In the above photo you can see that it is a golden colour when squeezed out, but once blended into the skin, that golden sheen is visible, but only barely so. You ca see the gorgeous radiant sheen that is left once you blend this out.
It really adheres to this primer, but that doesn’t cause any issues with application. Despite adhering to the primer, my foundation doesn’t look patchy or apply unevenly and it blends out as normal. I love to use this under and mixed in with matte foundations as it helps to take away any flat-matte appearance and give a more radiant finish.
This has a gorgeous scent, it’s not strong or overpowering, it’s very mild and pleasant and dissipates once your foundation is applied over top. It feels quite hydrating, similar to my moisturiser does, but it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy or like there is a film sitting on top of it. I love to use my Blank Canvas F36. This is a gorgeous brush for blending out primers, liquid highlighters, cream cheek products. etc. I just love it for those types of products, and this one is no different.
I can’t say that it helps with minimising pores, blurring imperfections or being anti-wrinkle, I think for the anti-wrinkle, I would have to be using it for quite a while to really notice a difference, should there be any difference. But as I said above, I’m not convinced that there is any lotion that can or does minimise wrinkles. One thing I do really like is that is has an SPF 15, although I always wear a separate SPF 50 anyway, it’s nice when skincare
This is a really lovely product to use, and it’s one I would repurchase and recommend. This reminds me a lot of my more expensive primers and priming products that give my skin the same (and similar) finish, feeing and effect that this does. To be honest, for €6.80, it’s well worth checking out if you’re in the market for a hydrating primer that is lightweight, non-greasy, gives a healthy radiance to your skin and has skincare benefits also.
Have you tried this primer? What are your thoughts on it? I’d love to know.
Thank you for reading, until next time, take care xx
