This No7 foundation was screaming out to me when I first heard about it. Luminous, hydrating and moisturising all in one foundation!? Eh yes please! I love a glowy base and this foundation promises to give that, and it delivers on that promise!
This foundation is one of, if not the most glowy foundations that I have ever used. The glow from this is unlike any other foundation. It does get shiny on my t-zone throughout the day, even though I have dry skin although it is nothing major and if I want, I can dab a little powder on top to take down the shine.
I have the shade Porcelain, which is the lightest shade available, and it’s a pretty good match for me. The next shade, Calico, was a smidgen too pink and a little too dark for me. I don’t find this foundation to oxidise throughout the day, which is great as I hate when foundations oxidise. I like that it contains SPF15, however I always wear a separate SPF, but it’s good that it does contain some SPF.

It claims to give ‘visibly fresh and radiant looking skin in an instant’, and that’s something I can agree with. It looks beautiful on the skin, particularly dry skin. I have gotten sheer, medium and full coverage from this, it builds without looking heavy or cakey. You can get away with a very, very sheer layer of this and have a natural looking complexion with a natural glow.
In the above photo you see it blended out and the glow that it gives. I swatched it on my arm (where I swatch all products) and don’t use any products on my skin before hand. No moisturiser, primer and don’t use anything afterwards either. The swatch photos are unedited and what you see in those photos is what you see in real life.
This foundation has a nice, creamy consistency that is thick, but not so thick that it’s difficult to apply or blend out. It blends out easily and seamlessly leaving no visible streaks.

I love that it comes in a squeezy tube, it’s nice and compact and lightweight, so great for travelling. It’s very easy to squeeze out the right amount of product and the product doesn’t get all over the inside of the lid as can sometimes happen. Plus, because it’s a tube, there’s no chance of it breaking if dropped.
The foundation wears well for a good ten hours, and by that stage, I can tell it has been on for a full day. It looks quite shiny, particularly on my t-zone and if I touch it, I can see some transfer. It doesn’t transfer throughout the day when it is set, but after a full day, it does. I’m pretty sure I haven’t experienced that with any other foundation, usually they transfer or they don’t.
When I set this in the morning, it doesn’t mattify, regardless of what powder I use. It still retains a glow, even if it less than when not set. On the times that I didn’t set it, it did transfer and if I touched my face, I could see where it had come off.
Any products I applied over this, both when I set it and didn’t, applied as normal, however when applied over this when it wasn’t set, they did adhere better, but were a little harder to blend out. Normally when I apply my blush and bronzer, I like to blend them out for sheerer coverage and a more diffused finish, however, they were a little harder to blend and took a little more work than when the foundation was set. They did blend out, and didn’t grab on to any areas and look patchy.
I prefer to use a slightly glowy blush/bronzer or something entirelly matte. I like using it with the blushes from the Hourglass Ghost Blush Quad, but only when I set it first, because if I apply them over it when it isn’t set, everything just looks a bit too glowy, even for me.
The foundation didn’t cling to or accentuate any dryness, fine lines, it just looked very glowy and healthy. I’ve mixed it with the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré and it has given me a nice sheer coverage, I’ve used ¾ of a pump for a light to medium coverage, 1 ½ pumps for a solid medium coverage and 2 full pumps for a solid full coverage.
Personally, my favourite ways to wear this are with a sheer, light, light to medium or medium coverage. Full coverage is just a bit too much because of how glowy it is.
If you have oily skin, I doubt this would work for you, to be honest. For combination skin, it might work, but you may well have issues with oils throughout the day. I mean, if its gets shiny on me and I have dry skin and no oiliness, I can’t imagine how it would fair out.
Despite being a drugstore/affordable foundation, it is on the pricier side at €20, that said, it is regularly on offer and Boots often give out vouchers for No.7 where you can get money off, so you won’t often pay €20 for it. Available from Boots.
