Hey guys,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve been in a bit of a rut with social media/blogging. I seem to be in and out of ruts over the last while and it’s quite frustrating. I don’t really know why it was, or what caused/causes it. Lockdown? Cocooning? Stress? Maybe all three? I dunno. The only thing I was able for was watching stories, just that bit of escapism each day for a few mins at a time really helped me and my mind to distract from reality and all the goings on in the world at the moment.
Today I want to share my thoughts on this gorgeous Heaps of Sweets eyeshadow palette with you. YouTuber and influencer Shaaanxo is the creator and CEO of XOBeautyShop. Shannon is someone whom I have followed and watched on YouTube for years. She is the only one whom I have followed and watched religiously.
She is such a bubbly and fun person and someone who make me smile and laugh constantly and I love that she takes the p*ss out of herself and laughs at herself. I find her to be one of the most relatable influencers/YouTubers, and I love that she has remained that way throughout her success.

The palette is gorgeous. I love the range and variety of shades; you can create some gorgeous neutral looks and still add pops of colour with the purple shades.
All of the shades are creamy, pigmented, apply with full opacity and apply smoothly. They’re long-wearing, with no issues of fading or creasing throughout the day, both with and without a primer. Although shadows creasing isn’t an issue I would generally have anyway, very few shadows tend to crease on me.
Bon Bon has impressed me the most with how creamy and pigmented it is, and how smoothly it applies. I’ve found in the past that purple shades which are this deep can sometimes be a little dry to the touch and can apply patchy, I haven’t experienced those issues with this shadow. In the swatches I swatched it once, with no primer or base, and it swatched really well.

The only shadow that took a little building up is Sugar, and that’s because it’s quite a light metallic shade and for a heavy swatch I did have to layer it 2-3 times. There is minimal fallout with these shadows, both in the pan and when applied to the eye, either with a brush or your fingers.
As with all metallic and shimmer shades from all brands, the shimmers and metallics in this palette do pop a little more when sprayed with some fixing or setting spray, although even with this, they pop quite a bit anyway, all they do is add a little extra pop!

I love the packaging on the palette. I think it’s so fun, the colour, the design and the font. I love that there are sweets, donuts and other sweet treats on the outside of the palette. It’s something different and something fun and (obviously) really suits the name of the palette.
The palette is housed in cardboard that is sturdy and not at all flimsy, it is slim, compact and lightweight. There is a nice big mirror on the lid too, which is very handy. It’s a good quality mirror too, not one of those plastic ones that you can sometimes get in palettes. The palette is a nice size, it’s not too big, and would be handy for travelling too. Not only for its size, but because you can create neutral looks and add a pop of purple if you so wish.
I paid around €25 (including shipping) for this palette and it took approximately four weeks, but that was during lockdown where post was a little slower anyway (and there were delays with New Zealand Post also), so in normal (or our new normal now) it would be quicker I’m sure. Postage was around €5, I believe, so it’s very reasonable, especially coming from the other side of the world.
XoBeauty’s customer service is also wonderful. My tracking hadn’t updated for a while (over a week IIRC) and when I contacted them, they were so helpful and immediately contacted New Zealand Post and within days my tracking had updated and consistently updated. Nothing was ever too much; they kept an eye on the tracking themselves and emailed me each time there was any updates etc. It’s certainly some of the best customer service I’ve come across and experienced.
This is the first and only product I’ve tried from XOBeauty, but it won’t be my last. I will for sure be trying more from them. I would love to try their brushes and think they may be next on my list. Shannon has said that she is working on a new palette, which I am very excited for. I can’t wait to see what the shade range and theme will be.
Have you tried anything from XOBeauty? Is it a brand you’d like to try?
Thank you for reading, until next time, take care. xx
