Hey guys,
Today’s post is a little different for me, but I want to start changing up my content and include different posts rather than just reviews and monthly hits & misses. While I love doing those posts and will continue to do them, I just want to add in some different posts as well just so my posts are not repetitive each week/month.
This post is, as you can tell by the title, four bases that I’m currently using on rotation and have been doing so since AROUND April. They’ve been my go-to products for the last few months. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying them much more than my other foundations and so have had them on rotation. The exception to this is the ABH foundation, which I’ve been using since I got it in June.
I’ve had a lot of medical appointments and needed my base to be long-wearing, especially when the days have been humid and warm and I knew I’d be sweating a lot, but also, because I was applying them at 6.a.m some mornings and it was late evening time before I’d be removing them, so they needed to last all day, and they did.
The four bases that I’ve been loving recently are the Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation, Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation and Neutrogena HydroBoost Hydrating Tint.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation is my newest foundation and one I had been eyeing up since it launched. I wanted to finish up some foundations before buying anything new, but I caved and bought this when they had 30% off. I have to say, I love this.
It exactly as the name suggests it is — luminous. It’s not dewy, not glowy, but it has a luminosity and radiance to it. Depending on the primer you use under it, it can appear matte, or even semi-matte. When I powder this, it does mattify, regardless of what powder / primer I use. That’s about the only thing I don’t like, but it’s no biggie, and some setting spray helps with that and takes away any powdery appearance.
Fenty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation has been a long-time favourite. I don’t find it to be overly matte on my dry skin. It doesn’t look dry, heavy or cakey. It doesn’t cling to dryness, emphasise texture, pores or fine lines.
It’s a very lightweight foundation, and as the name suggests, it is long-wearing. I love applying it with my Blank Canvas F20, which is a flat top kabuki brush with some density to it. It really blends out this foundation seamlessly, easily and quickly.
This is mainly medium-full coverage but can be sheered out or built up, depending on what coverage you want. I sometimes mix an illuminating primer or liquid highlighter in with it to add a decent amount of glow to it. If I do add any illuminating products, I will only add a little bit as you don’t need much. Full review here.
NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation is another long-time favourite. It is such a beautiful foundation that gives full coverage (though it can be sheered out to medium), it is long wearing as the name suggests and it looks beautiful on too. This is what I’ve been wearing for long days at the hospital, as it is long wearing (as the name suggests), full coverage (but can be sheered out to medium) and looks gorgeous on. Plus, it lasts through the warm weather we’ve been having here.
This is one of my absolute favourite foundations ever, it’s definitely in my top three and it is one I can see myself always having because of how well it works for my skin, how it looks, performs, wears etc. It is expensive, but it is worth it and NARS is so widely available that you are almost certain to get it on offer / reduced somewhere.
Neutrogena’s HydroBoost Hydrating Tint has been my go-to for days when I am going to appointments but don’t want a full face or for days when I won’t out as long. This is exactly what it says it is — a tint. Not a BB or CC cream, not a tinted moisturiser and not a foundation. It evens out my complexion, adds a hint of colour and looks really healthy on.
It’s longwearing, feels very lightweight and is comfortable to wear all day. It has a nice doe foot applicator, too. This isn’t available in Ireland unfortunately, I’ve only ever seen it online in the US, but if you’re ordering from the US, this is a product I’d recommend checking out. Full review here.
Are there any base products / foundations that you have been enjoying lately? I’d love to hear what they are, and why you love them so much. Let me know in the comments down below, or on my social media. I would love to hear from you!
Thank you for reading, until next time, take care xx
