Hey guys,
I’m back with a new post, my first in three weeks as I took some time off blogging + my social media (mostly), I needed to take time away for personal reasons, but I feel okay to blog again and so decided to kick off with this post, which is the first in a new series.
I asked on my Instagram Stories recently if you would like to see some new series/posts on BB, and you voted for yes, and one of those series is ‘My Top Five’. In this series I will speak about my top five products from different categories. I think it’ll be nice to have a mixture of categories to mix it up. I hope you enjoy this series, and the new series I will be introducing soon.
This post, is as you can see, about concealers. I’m cheating here as I should only be including five, but I struggled to eliminate one. They are all fantastic and I simply couldn’t eliminate any of them, so I’ve included six. 🙈 For reference, I have very dry skin and (at the moment) moderate darkness under my eyes. None of these concealers accentuate any dryness or darkness. They all offer medium-full to full coverage, which I personally want and look for in a concealer.
For reference, I have very dry skin and (at the moment) moderate darkness under my eyes. None of these concealers accentuate any dryness or darkness. They all offer medium-full to full coverage, which I personally want and look for in a concealer. It should be noted that ALL of these concealers offer full coverage, though some can be sheered out or built up. They all cover my dark circles without any greyness or darkness peeking though. None of them look dry, heavy or cakey, even when set and none of them accentuate any dryness or fine lines, either.
Catrice Liquid Camouflage — This is the one concealer I have repurchased the most. I have been using this for years, it’s a must-have for me. I adore it.
It has a creamy consistency, offers full coverage, isn’t cakey or dry, and doesn’t make my under-eye area look dry. It sets beautifully too, regardless of what powder I use to set it. It looks beautiful and it’s only €3.95.
Catrice One Drop Weightless — This is another gorgeous concealer, and one that I have repurchased multiple times. Catrice Ireland very kindly sent me this when it first launched and it quickly became a favourite. I’ve since repurchased several bottles of this, and have gotten it for friends/family, who have all loved it too.
I use it as a concealer, face base and eye base, and it works well for all three. It’s so creamy but with full coverage. It costs less than €5 too. It’s a steal.
Clarins Instant — This concealer is one I had wanted to try for ages when I saw a wee Clarins set in TK Maxx for only €12, which included this concealer, I snapped it up, and I’m so glad I did. It’s a beautiful, super creamy concealer that gives full coverage, although you can sheer it out. I sometimes mix it with my Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré and it will give me a nice, light face base.
This looks beautiful and it looks radiant, even when set. I like that it comes in a tube, so you can cut it open when you get to the end to get every last bit out.
CoverGirl TruBlend Undercover — This is relatively new to me, and once I tried it, I fell in love. It’s supposed to be like Tarte’s Shape Tape, however I have never tried that so I cannot compare, although, I have heard that Shape Tape has a matte finish, and this one by CoverGirl doesn’t (in my experience and opinion), so I wouldn’t think they are similar in finish.
It’s very creamy, similar to the Clarin’s concealer, and offers full coverage, which can be built up, but not sheered out like the others. If you apply too much, it will still blend nicely, but it will look heavy and it will be obvious that you have applied a lot. The key to this is to apply a very small amount (2-3 dots at most) and blend it out quickly for it to look seamless. It sets quickly so you need to work quickly.
MAC ProLongwear — This was my holy grail for years, in fact, this and the Liquid Camouflage were the only two concealers that I used for years. This is full, full coverage, with a semi-matte finish. Despite having dry skin, this concealer works really well for me. It’s another that dries quickly so you need to work quickly with it. I need to set this quickly after blending it, because if I don’t, it will settle into lines and although I can blend it out, I find it looks better if blended once and set instantly.
I’m not the biggest fan of the packaging personally. I don’t usually mind a pump, but this one is a nightmare to get off so you can get product out when you can no longer pump it out. I’d love if it came in a tube, they are my preference, personally.
NARS Radiant Creamy — This is a beautiful creamy, full coverage concealer. This looks beautiful when blended out and set. It looks radiant and healthy. I love how this looks and wears, it just makes my under-eye area look so healthy because of the radiance it gives. I love the packaging and the doe-foot applicator, it applies just the right amount of product. This has a nice touch of luxury to it, which for €30, it’s very much a luxury product and price point.
I love this, but I will be honest and say it’s absolutely not a necessity, unless you absolutely want to spend €30 on a concealer and you want something luxurious, there are other concealers that will look as nice as this does, but for a lot less. That said, it is one of my top picks, so I had to include it, I couldn’t not.
What is your favourite concealer? Do you like any of the ones I’ve included in this post?
Thank you for reading, until next time, take care xx
