Hi guys,
I have a Disappointing Products post for you today, which is something I haven’t done before but as they are posts that I love reading, I wanted to start doing them myself. I love reading speedy and concise reviews of products and as I have had quite a few disappointing products recently, I thought this would be a good time to do one of these posts. As I mentioned on my Instagram Stories recently, I want to start changing up my posts and this is a good post to start, I think.
Boots Ingredient Hyaluronic Acid — This did nothing for my skin. I spoke about it on my Instagram (here). It was very much a meh product for me, as I said in my Instagram post, I much prefer The Inkey List’s Hyaluronic Acid. It has a nicer texture, feels nicer on the skin and actually does something for my skin, plus it’s around the same price as the Boots Ingredients one, so I’d recommend that one over the Boots one.
Drunk Elephant Babyfacial — This is an exfoliator that I’d heard so much about, all good things, but for me, it was a fail. It left my skin in bits. My skin was red raw after using this, and it was far more sensitive and reactive than it had ever been. I also didn’t find it to be exfoliating in any way. I felt this to be very harsh on my skin and it’s something that I won’t ever use again because of how harsh it was. Thankfully my skin is starting to come back to normal, but it is taking a while.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm (Original and Rose) — I’d heard lots of great things about this and so I had high expectations. A lot of people describe it as a sensorial experience, I personally didn’t find that with either of them. I wasn’t a big fan of them at all. To me there is nothing special about them. I haven’t had any sensorial experiences with either of them. I don’t get the hype about them.
I use the No.7 Radiant Results Nourishing Cleansing Balm and have done for a year or more now, and I adore it, and I personally prefer it to both of these, plus it is also a lot more affordable and it is regularly on offer too.
IT Cosmetics CC Cream (Original) — This has probably been my biggest disappointment over everything. It gets huge hyped and is constantly raved about, but for me, it just did not work at all. Frankly, it looked horrendous on my skin. When first applied it looks nice, but within minutes it looks dry and cakey, almost as if I’d applied layer upon layer of foundation and powder on my skin, even though I only had a light layer of this on. It looked dreadful, absolutely dreadful.
There were so many times I added it to my basket and almost went to checking, boy am I glad I didn’t, because at €39 / £32 this would have been a pricey error on my part. There are two other versions of this available, matte and illuminating and I will try the illuminating one next, but I’ll get the mini size to try out.
Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask — This mask is something I heard a lot of hype about, but for me, this mask was probably my biggest disappointment, because it did nothing for my skin. I noticed no difference. It applied and dried down just like my beloved Supermud by GlamGlow did, but without doing what Supermud does.
Supermud clears my skin, draws out impurities, helps clear up spots, and helps to keep my skin clear, this mask, did none of those things. I was lucky and managed to nab a trio set last Christmas and was able to try this and two other masks from them so I didn’t need to splurge on a full size, and thankfully I didn’t as I had often been tempted to do so.
Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment — I’ve heard a lot of great things about this, but it did nothing for my skin. My skin didn’t look, feel or appear any different, no matter how many times I used this. I much prefer The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid + HA, it does so much more for my skin and really helps to leave it smooth and soft, and it is also a fraction of the price of this.
Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara — This was a huge disappointment as it’s something something I have heard a lot of good things about, but on me, this flakes terribly. I love how it makes my lashes look when I first apply it, however throughout the day it flakes off and by the end of the day there was little to remove as it had mostly flaked off. It does give my lashes definition, length and volume but the flaking is so bad that I just cannot get past it.
There have been other products that have disappointed me, but none have stuck in my mind like the ones above, probably because what I have mentioned here have been the most disappointing of all. I’d love to hear what product you have found disappointing, let me know in the comments, or on my social media, I’d love to hear from you.
Thank you for reading, until next time, take care xx
