Matte liquid lip products are something I shouldn’t wear often because of my dry lips; however, they are a product that I really like so I tend to wear them quite a bit.
A while ago I decided to treat myself and I bought this lip maestro by Giorgio Armani. It was pretty expensive for a lip product. In Brown Thomas they are €33.
That’s right thirty-three euros for a matte lip cream. Mad, I know, but sure look we all like a treat, no matter what it may be.
Anyway, I decided to get the colour number #500 which is a nice light peachy pink colour, not a colour I would normally go for but it looked gorgeous and one I would get a lot of wear from, or so I thought….
I’ll start with the formula….
This is a really, really matte formula, they’re drying and uncomfortable to wear, not only that, but it cracks on the lips
I’ve used different matte liquid lip products, some expensive, some inexpensive, but none have ever felt so uncomfortable or drying.
It looked awful. I immediately took it off, needing an oil-based remover to get it off so I wouldn’t need to scrub my lips raw to get it off.
I tried applying a lip balm and then this over top, which worked, but it made the lipstick slide around my lips and I didn’t apply much balm at all, it wasn’t a greasy balm either.

I’ve found only two ways to wear this. One is to apply a creamy lipstick in a similar colour to this and then apply this over top and wear it that way.
The second way is to apply a few drops of Inglot’s Duraline which will take away the matte finish and give the lipstick a slightly sticky consistency.
It’s not overly sticky and it’s not at all gloopy. It’s also not uncomfortable to wear it with Duraline mixed through it.
They are the only ways I can get this to work. After about 3-4 hours I need to either reapply or remove.
The colour of the lipstick is gorgeous, I love it. It’s not a colour I would usually go for but this is lovely and really suits me.
I find a lot of pinky or peachy nudes can look funny on me so I don’t tend to go for them.
Brown and Mauve nudes, like MAC Velvet Teddy and Anastasia Beverly Hills Allison suit me so much more so I usually stick with those.

It has a doe foot applicator, which I like. It’s a nice size, not too big or small and it applies the right amount of product, some applicators I find can apply too much but not this one.
These are not something I would recommend or repurchase. The quality isn’t great and they are expensive.
I wish I loved this especially because of how much they cost but also because I love the colour.
