Penneys have come a long way with their beauty products, accessories and tools in the last year. They’ve come out with quite a few products and one such products is this soap cleanser for beauty sponges.
If you have a beauty blender you’ll probably know that their own cleanser is quite expensive at €15.50 for 28g. This beauty from Penneys PS..range is a mere €2.50 for 28g also.
That’s a staggering difference of €13 for what is essentially the same product, albeit under different brand names.
After I saw it in Penneys, I heard Irish YouTuber Chloé Boucher talk about it and I was intrigued by it so I decided to pick it up, I mean for €2.50 it wasn’t going to break the bank so if I didn’t like it, what harm?
I had nothing to lose by trying a €2.50 cleanser, I wasn’t willing to splash out €15.50 without trying it anyway!
Sure enough when I went back a few days later to get it, it was sold out. It was weeks before it was in stock again, so when it did come back into stock I picked up three of them.
Yes three. I had a feeling I was going to really like it so I stocked up. I’m so glad I did because it’s freaking amazing.
I had been using the Dr Bonner Orange liquid soap to clean my beauty blender (and brushes) until I got this, now it’s pretty much all I use. Unless I am deep cleaning my brushes, in which case I will use baby shampoo.
Even though the Penneys cleanser is specifically for sponges, I have used it to clean some brushes, generally ones which aren’t too dirty and it does an amazing job at leaving them squeaky clean but still soft just like baby shampoo does.
I never bought the official beauty blender cleanser due to the price and I’m so glad now that I didn’t because I would be kicking myself at spending so much when Penneys have a perfectly fine and effective cleanser which I imagine is just as good and costs so much less.
Now that I have discovered this gem from Penneys I can’t ever see myself purchasing the beauty blender cleanser. There’s no need for me to when I can save some money. And who doesn’t like saving some money?!!
It’s important to know though that this cleanser doesn’t sanitise your tools, it only removes the makeup from them. I use the Fairy Anti Bacterial for sanitising my brushes and it works well.
Have you tried this cleanser? What did you think of it? I would love to hear what you think.
