Those of us with dry skin are advised against using mattifying primers as they can cause our skin to dry out even more, However, with the heat in Ireland this summer I’ve resorted to using a mattifying primer to ensure that my foundation stays put and doesn’t budge.
We have had scorching temperatures here in Ireland and as a result there have been some days where my foundations have needed a helping hand in staying put. This primer has been a godsend in doing just that.
I apply this down the centre of my face and along my jawline as that is where I would usually have issue with foundations. Anytime I’ve used this primer under my foundation it has stayed and hasn’t moved, it might be a little shiny, but hey, who isn’t shiny in hot temps?
I’ve used this under matte and glowy foundations. It hasn’t taken down shine too much it has helped my base to look and last better.
Makeup Forever have the following information listed on their website for this primer:
“MATTIFYING PRIMER: is the answer to unwanted shine, fighting against excess oil to ensure a matte makeup result.
Formulated with our Sebustop Vegetal Complex, this instantly reduces pore size and controls shine for flawless makeup all day long.”
Despite having dry skin I haven’t found it to have any adverse effects including feeling uncomfortable, tight or drying.
The primer is a white colour, but when applied to my skin there is no colours so it’s transparent. It’s quite a thick primer and a little is all you need. Too much and your foundation won’t apply nicely over it.
It will cling to the primer and look patchy so less is definitely more with the primer.

I love the packaging too. I love that it is in a squeezy tube. It’s easy to squeeze out a small amount and not waste product. It’s compact and lightweight so great for travelling.

Makeup Forever Mattifying Primer
I’ve tried various mattifying primers over the years and this is the only one that has ever worked for me. I’ve yet to find another primer that works as well or better than this one has.
You can purchase it on MakeupForever.ie for €33, which I know is pricey especially for a primer but it does the job and it lasts for ages because you only need a small amount each time you won’t run out of it quickly.
